Animal Free Research UK is the UK’s leading non-animal medical research charity that funds and promotes the development of techniques and procedures to replace the use of animals in biomedical research and testing.
The Board is looking for new trustees who are aligned to the ethos of the charity and would enjoy the opportunity to contribute their expertise to provide robust and dynamic governance to ensure we achieve our ambitions. We are particularly interested to hear from individuals with skills in HR, charity finance, strategy and business.
Animal Free Research UK funds an extensive portfolio of high calibre scientific research projects within the UK that focus on replacing the use of animals used in medical research. Income to fund our research is generated almost exclusively by donations and legacies.
In this role, you will help inspire, set and maintain the charity’s vision, mission and values, as well as contributing to developing the strategy and ensuring compliance and accountability for finances, legal and governmental obligations. Previous experience in a trustee role is not essential as a full induction will be provided.
Taking on the role of a trustee of Animal Free Research UK is a significant undertaking. The Board meets at least 4 times per year on Saturdays in March, June, August and December and an appropriate time commitment will be required for the preparatory work required in between meetings.
Term: Three years, renewable for a further three years.
