Job description

St. Margaret’s Hospice is one of the UK’s largest hospices and is the leading provider of end of life services in Somerset.  For almost 40 years it has been at the heart of the Somerset community delivering high quality, responsive and compassionate care each year to over 3,800 people facing a life limiting illness. Less than 20% of our costs are supported by the NHS. The rest is provided by charitable income through our fundraising, shops and donations. Our pioneering services depend upon the best people who can innovate, inspire and deliver exceptional services and income generation to provide the best care possible for patients and their families.

We are currently looking to expand our Board of Trustees and are particularly keen to identify individuals with senior level experience in strategic finance, fund-raising or IT. 

Our Board meets on a quarterly basis in the evening at one of our two hospice units in Taunton and Yeovil.  It is responsible for supervising the management and administration of the charity and for providing strategic leadership, counsel and advice to the Executive Team.  Each Trustee also sits on one or two of the six sub-committees reporting to the Board which also meet quarterly.

Trustee roles are voluntary and not remunerated, although expenses can be reimbursed.
