Job description

Exeter Northcott Theatre is currently embarked upon a process of transformation – from ‘traditional’ regional theatre to a dynamic, inclusive, cultural organisation, working across multiple sites and spaces, nurturing creativity within the communities we serve, and contributing to the cultural renaissance of Exeter.

We’re looking for a number of new board members, including a Chair/Co-Chair, who are passionate about the pivotal role that performing arts organisations can play within regional cities, and who can bring new perspectives and diverse lived experience to our leadership, to help us realise meaningful change.

We’re committed to making space for new voices within our team and to sharing power as we seek to make the Northcott more representative. Ensuring that the diversity of our Board reflects the diversity of the communities within which we operate is a key part of this, so we’re particularly keen to hear from people from a culturally diverse background (including Black, Asian, Dual Heritage and Other Ethnic Groups), from d/Deaf & disabled people and from artists and other freelancers.

We recognise that, to ensure that anyone can get involved in our Board, we need to be open to changing the way we do things, how we support trustees, and even how we define ‘good governance’, to remove any barriers that may exist.
