We provide free legal advice to parents and carers on their rights at work. We give employers the tools they need to support their people while creating a flexible, high-performing workforce. And we advocate on behalf of the UK’s 17.5 million working parents and carers, influencing policy through campaigns informed by ground-breaking research.

What will you be doing?
You will be responsible for setting strategic direction, overseeing the management of the charity, compliance, and good practice. You will provide expert advice, challenge and support to the CEO and Senior Leadership Team. Attend 4 Board Meetings a year and regular meetings of the committee to which you are assigned, plus one strategy away day each year. Support Working Families’ events throughout the year.

What are we looking for?
We are particularly looking for Trustees with experience of:

  • Policy & Influencing
  • Charity sector & governance
  • Professional Fundraising, ability to attract donors or generate donations

A passion for supporting and advocating for working parents and carers, especially those who are disadvantaged. Lived experiences of these issues is an advantage.

Experience or involvement with a board or committees in a governance role is desirable.

Experience of strategic business planning, generating income, and change management is desirable.

These are intended as a guide and candidates are not expected to meet all the above to be considered.

What difference will you make?
As a member of our Board of Trustees, you will shape our work with parents, carers, employers, and lawmakers in achieving a society where everyone can fully meet their work and caring responsibilities. Your work as a trustee will positively impact the working lives of the UK’s 17.5 million working parents and carers. You will also have the opportunity to work alongside energetic, passionate, and like-minded fellow trustees.
