We believe all children have the right to a safe, secure and loving home. When that can’t happen, they sometimes need to be removed into care. That causes pain and distress to everyone.
Our vision is of a society where no family experiences the removal of a child more than once.
Pause works with women who have experienced or are at risk of having children removed from their care. We offer an intensive, trauma informed model of support to women, so the removal of a child should never have to happen more than once. Since 2012 Pause Practices across the country have reached around 2,300 women who have had over 7,100 children removed from their care. We currently have 30 Practices across England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Trustees are the guardians of our vision, values and strategy. Their role is to support and challenge the Pause leadership team to deliver these and to act in the best interests of the organisation.
We have a committed Trustee Board, but are always looking to bring in different perspectives and areas of expertise, that will complement and strengthen our existing skill set and experience.
We are currently keen to find people with experience of
Working within Local Authorities – particularly management and finance roles
Working within Children’s Services or charities – understanding of safeguarding, vulnerability and risk
Lobbying and dealing with Government at ministerial level and above
Do you have the capacity and commitment to be a key part of our work?
