Do you have experience in charitable fundraising? We are looking for someone with your skills to join us as a Trustee at the Microbiology Society!

This is a great opportunity to help steer a globally significant scientific organisation. Guide us with your expertise, supporting the investment of the next generation of microbiologists.

Your knowledge of fundraising best practice, at strategic level, will advise our board on our budgeting decisions. Are you also keen to empower communities worldwide on the impact of microbiology? Then we'd like to hear more about your interest in joining our charity!

WHO ARE MICROBIOLOGY SOCIETY?

The Microbiology Society is a membership charity for scientists interested in microbes. We have a worldwide membership, from universities across to research institutes. Our members have a unique depth and breadth of knowledge about the discipline.

We foster communication between communities of microbiologists and between microbiologists. This helps us to unlock and harness the potential of that knowledge, generating public benefit.

WHAT MATTERS TO US

Our vision is a world in which the science of microbiology provides maximum benefit to society. Our mission is to advance the understanding of microbiology by empowering communities worldwide.

The Society seeks to actively encourage all practices that reflect a diverse society. Greater diversity within all that we do will widen the talent pool available. This creates diverse networks of ideas and collaborations in the field of Microbiology.

IF YOU JOIN US…

You will contribute to ensuring the Society remains financially resilient and strategically bold. Be deeply connected to the needs and aspirations of microbiologists worldwide, as a valued member of our Board.

This is a pivotal moment for the Microbiology Society. Microbiology sits at the centre of many urgent global challenges, so you'll make a real impact. Against this backdrop, the role of trustee has never been more important. You'll help the Society navigate complexity with clarity and ambition with our fundraising.

Becoming a trustee is an interesting way to engage with the charity sector. It's a chance to give back through your professional experience while learning from others. It's a role that flexibly fits around other commitments, while sharing your expertise.
