Contact Group is a collaboration of leading military charities, support organisations, the NHS, the Ministry of Defence, UK Psychological Trauma Society and top academics working together to make the most effective mental health support easily accessible to Service personnel, Ex-Service personnel and their families. The group was established to bring together its collective knowledge, expertise and understanding to work together to improve mental health support to the military sector and we are also a key partner of the Heads Together Campaign. Our aims is to create more accessible pathways to support by promoting evidence-based treatments, tackling stigma and making it easier for each individual to identify the most effective, convenient and appropriate support for them.

To enable us to continue our focus on improving the quality and accessibility of mental health services to the military community we now seek an Independent Chair who will enable all members of our group to share best practice, foster innovation and work towards achieving real outcomes and positive impact for this community.

We are looking for an individual who is an adept, agile and diplomatic chair with experience or chairing multi-stakeholder groups and a strong understanding of effective governance. Equipped with this experience you will be able to draw out contributions of diverse members and ensure effective collaboration and  ensure a focus on  direction of travel and purpose is maintained; as we are looking for this group to inform and drive service developments, our chair should be able to ensure we arrive at sound decisions and that these are then acted on and progressed.  With senior leadership experience in mental health you will be a facilitative and open-minded leader with an appreciation and empathy with the veteran community. We are also looking for our chair to represent the Contact Group in varies fora and so you will bring experience as a credible and influential ambassador.

The Contact Group currently meets quarterly, and the time commitment is likely to be 2 days a month. We are eager for our Independent Chair to re-evaluate our current meeting schedule and frequency to ensure it is fit for purpose.
