Job description

For over 35 years National Energy Action has been the voice on behalf of those, especially vulnerable, people who cannot afford to keep their homes warm.

The governance and strategic direction for National Energy Action is provided by its Board of Trustees.  We are looking to recruit a new Trustee who is able to serve as Honorary Treasurer of the Charity, to support our work to eradicate fuel poverty.

NEA is at an exciting moment in its development.  It is an agile charity working with an increasingly wide range of partners and funders in the private, public and voluntary sectors. It aims to be an exceptionally well-run and sustainable organisation so that it can make the greatest practical impact for people who cannot afford a warm home.

This unpaid post is specifically to advise and support NEA’s Board of Trustees and its Group Finance, Audit and Risk Committee, so you must have experience of working at an appropriate level in the areas of accountancy, management accounting, SORP and preferably charity accounting.  We expect that you will also have an interest in helping NEA to achieve its aim of eradicating fuel poverty, and you therefore may also have skills and experience to complement those of the existing Board members who have served at senior levels in their field and bring specialist skills in the energy industry, media and corporate relations, the Law, housing, local authority management, health, charity governance, mechanical and construction engineering and consumer advocacy.
