Compass Executives are delighted to be working exclusively with Cruse Bereavement Care to appoint a Director of Finance and Corporate Services. In 60 years of providing services to bereaved people it has built an international reputation as a charity which delivers significant impact, support and advice services, and campaigns for the needs of bereaved people.

It’s an exciting period to join the organisation as they continue to deliver vital services, embarking on a five-year strategy ‘Bereaved People First’. Reporting the to the CEO the new Director of Finance and Corporate Services will work in close partnership with the board as part of a dynamic and ambitious leadership team. With a broad portfolio including IT, HR, Property and Company Secretary duties, this is an opportunity to enhance a career, influencing and delivering the charity’s ambitions and vision, whilst bringing financial and commercial priorities to the decision-making process.

You will be an experienced senior finance professional, with the ability to engage and collaborate with a wide variety of stakeholders and quickly contribute to the culture and wider organisation. You will be a current Finance Director or aspirant Head of Finance who has demonstrable strategic leadership experience gained within a culture of change and transformation. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate outstanding communication and influencing skills and the ability to build effective relationships and motivate others to achieve service excellence.

Key attributes include:

  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal 
  • Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Comfortable running a finance function being hands on whilst also taking a macro view
  • Detailed knowledge of charity law and governance
  • A track record of success in a broad ranging role with exposure across IT, Operations, HR, Property would be highly desirable.
