Job description

Seeking an experienced Chair to represent and support the needs of Carers and their families across Sussex and the South East of England.

3 out of 5 people will become an unpaid carer at some point in their lives.

Carers Support West Sussex is an independent charity dedicated to working with and for unpaid carers; supporting a vision of a world where carers are seen, heard, and included.

With more than 29,000 carers currently registered with the Charity, Carers Support West Sussex offers Support Groups, runs a busy Carer Response Line, provides access to free equipment and grants to assist carers in their caring role, amongst other dedicated support services.

Carers are at the heart of everything in Carers Support West Sussex, and as such their voices have formed a key part of the organisation’s new strategy.

The charity’s ambitions are to do more for and with those they support, to help more family and friend carers across the region. Governed by a Board of up to 10 Trustees, the committed staff and volunteers are deeply motivated to help Carers Support West Sussex realise its ambitions.

The charity now seeks two experienced individuals to join the Board as Chair of Trustees. We are looking for dynamic leaders who can provide strong strategic direction, support and challenge the high performing Leadership Team and champion the work of the charity.

The ideal candidates will have extensive experience of leadership, governance, finance and risk management.
