CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (CEO) OF THE POLITICAL STUDIES ASSOCIATION, (PSA) UK
The Trustees of the Political Studies Association UK (PSA) are seeking to appoint an outstanding and dynamic Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to build on our heritage as the second largest learned society in the world dedicated to the study of politics.
Since its creation in 1950 the PSA has advocated a set of common principles that promote the intellectual, social and public value of the study of politics. As a result, PSA member expertise on politics is recognised around the world for its scholarly quality, its openness and – most of all – for its ability to bridge both ‘politics in theory’ and ‘politics in practice’.
Our Strategic Plan outlines our ambition to become the leading learned society within the social sciences with an international reputation for supporting our members and being at the forefront of developments in political science. We are looking for an individual with exemplary leadership skills, ambition and entrepreneurial flair to guide the organization towards realizing this vision.
Core to the success of the PSA is a knowledgeable team of six staff and an engaged and supportive board of trustees. You will have strong financial acumen, exceptional communication skills, contract management skills and the ability to lead a competent, talented and enthusiastic team of staff.
The successful candidate will be a perceptive, innovative leader, with significant experience of developing productive relationships with members, trustees and volunteers. This will include working closely with external stakeholders in higher education, publishing, the NGO sector and, importantly, within politics and the media.
We are looking to increase membership and diversify income so you will need to demonstrate experience in developing successful partnerships and commercial relationships.
